Benenden Conference 2015 was a memorable one for Benenden Charitable Trust. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the charity held a Gala Dinner for 520 guests at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. Hosted by Scottish comedian, Andy Cameron, who kept his audience laughing throughout out the night with his inimitable storytelling, the evening featured a drinks reception, three course dinner and entertainment including a traditional piper and dance display by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
A highlight of the event was a surprise performance by Secret Opera Singers, who posed as flamboyant members of the catering team before bursting into song. To raise awareness of its work, Benenden Charitable Trust showed short case-study videos made by people who have been helped by the charity. Fundraising activity included a raffle and prize casino, raising over £19,000 for grant-making in the future from the generous donations made by sponsors and guests.
Charitable Trust Manager, Thom Craigen, said “Since the event we have had so much wonderful feedback. The money raised will provide much needed help for people in health-related financial hardship and we are looking forward to finding more ways to work with the Benenden community to promote the charity and raise even more funds in the future.”
