Holiday first-aid kit...
Advice on those little essentials for any summer break.
Wherever you are heading for your holidays, don't forget to pack some handy first-aid supplies. “A basic first-aid kit is an essential when going on holiday,” says Boots pharmacist Angela Chalmers. “It should contain as a minimum: assorted plasters, antiseptic wipes, adhesive wound dressings and antiseptic cream. Ask your pharmacist if you are unsure.”
Other useful items include:
- sun hat
- insect repellent
- antihistamine cream and/or tablets
- anti-diarrhoea tablets
- rehydration sachets
- antibacterial hand wipes and/or gel
- travel sickness remedy
- earplugs for swimming
Before you travel, remember to find out about any jabs you may need. If going abroad, check with a pharmacist or with your GP about vaccinations and, potentially, anti-malaria tablets.
