What services do you provide?
Support and advisory helplines straight away. You can request diagnostics and treatments after 6 months.
Access to private health facilities throughout the UK.
We have 22 approved hospitals around the country which have been carefully chosen to ensure our members are given the best care. Our aim is to have an approved hospital within one hour drive of your home.
All our approved hospitals are dedicated to giving prompt diagnosis and the very best care so you can concentrate on getting better quickly.
How it works
At Benenden we’re a different kind of healthcare provider, putting our members at the heart of everything we do, to help them to enjoy the very best of health. Unlike other private medical insurers, our services are offered on a discretionary basis. This means we look at each case on an individual basis to understand how long waiting lists could affect your employment or personal life and we will do our very best to help.
We’re a mutual, not-for-profit organisation
We’ve been caring for our members for over 100 years and we’re not here to make profits for shareholders. The only people who profit are our members, using the services. The monthly member contribution of £8.45 per person, per month covers the cost of our services. There are some services which we cannot provide. Offering such services would not only push up the monthly cost of membership, but impact on the vast range of services that we provide.

- No contract - You will not be under contract with Benenden and you can cancel at any time

The MRI scan you agreed to pay for helped to confirm that I had an aggressive mouth cancer which needed immediate and drastic surgery. The help I received from you has played a major part in saving my life. Before my diagnosis I worked for a doctor’s surgery and all the staff, including our doctors, were members of Benenden. You can't get a higher recommendation than that!
I had a pre-existing set of symptoms that had gone undiagnosed for about 12 years. When the symptoms worsened to the extent that I could not attend work, Benenden paid for specialist consultants to diagnose me. I now know that I have a C6/7 disk lesion and other tissue damage. Without Benenden I may never have known what was wrong with me!
I had treatment at Benenden Hospital a few years ago. I initially contacted my GP and then due to the waiting list I contacted Benenden and was referred within a few weeks to have an Endometrial Ablation operation. The staff were absolutely amazing and made me feel so at ease that I had no fear concerning my operation at all.

I recently had to have quite a big operation. As the waiting list for the NHS was long I was able to have this done through Benenden. For me this was wonderful because it has improved my quality of life.
