And it turns out reading is good for your health. Research has found that reading is one of the most effective ways to de-stress – a study from the University of Sussex showed that 68% of people become less anxious after just six minutes of reading.
Cognitive neuropsychologist Dr David Lewis, who conducted the research, said when reporting its findings: “It really doesn't matter what book you read, by losing yourself in a thoroughly engrossing book you can escape from the worries and stresses of the everyday world and spend a while exploring the domain of the author’s imagination.”
