York 10K training underway for Benenden 30-strong team!
Thirty members of staff from Benenden’s registered office are getting set to take on the York 10K challenge on August 2nd to raise money for the Benenden Charitable Trust, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
Team Benenden is made up of staff from across the business (including Chief Executive, Marc Bell), with a range of running experience in the ranks – from beginners through to more seasoned runners. Together they have stepped up to the challenge to train for the 10k fun run around the City of York and are busy training to improve their fitness and stamina in readiness for the event.
Thom Craigen, Charitable Trust Manager said: “It’s fantastic to have such a big team getting involved in the race. We are all training hard in preparation and looking forward to putting in our best efforts on the day itself. Many of us are relatively new to running so it will be a real personal challenge as well as a great way to help the charity.
“We are incredibly proud of the work that the Charitable Trust does to help those in need and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can for the cause to enable us to help even more people.”
Benenden Charitable Trust exists to relieve hardship and distress caused by health-related issues. In its first ten years, the charity has granted over £600,000 to individuals, helping to pay for specialist equipment such as wheelchairs and stair-lifts, life changing surgery and medical treatments not available through the NHS or Benenden membership and by providing breathing space grants to help people get back on their feet again.
The runners have recently put together a video about their preparation for the event, which you can view below.
