Patients give Benenden Hospital the thumbs up
16th October 2012
Kent-based, independent non-profit hospital, Benenden Hospital has scored top marks in a recent survey of outpatients.
More than 1,000 outpatients were surveyed and asked to rate Benenden Hospital on a range of factors from the friendliness of staff to the cleanliness of the various departments.
The results showed that 99% would recommend the Hospital to their friends and family and 100% said they would choose Benenden Hospital again.
Claire Harley, Director of Patient Services at Benenden Hospital said: “This comprehensive survey is reflective of the hard work and commitment to service excellence by the outpatient team.
“We always strive to provide the best possible experience for patients and recognise that it can be an anxious time for people when visiting Benenden Hospital. Attention to detail and spending time explaining the process and next steps can help alleviate this anxiety. It is very rewarding for staff and the organisation as a whole to receive such positive feedback.”
Other results showed that 97% rated their overall experience as “very good” or “excellent” and more than 98% rated staff as “very good” or “excellent”. 97% rated the outpatient department they visited as “very clean”.
The survey was carried out by Howard Warwick Associates. The findings are based on the opinions of 1,032 outpatients who were treated during July 2012. Patients were given a short questionnaire at the end of their visit and participation was voluntary and anonymous.
Benenden Hospital is an independent hospital and subsidiary of the mutual, not-for-profit organisation, Benenden Healthcare Society.
83% of the outpatient survey respondents were members of Benenden Healthcare. Most of the remaining were NHS patients. The majority of respondents had visited the Hospital for medical or surgical consultations.
When comparing Benenden Hospital outpatient surveys from 2008, 2010 and 2011 the results indicate that high levels of service identified in previous years are being maintained and improved.
The results were so good that the managing director of Howard Warwick Associates, David Leach, described them as “impressive” and said they were “among the best in the industry based on our observations of over 100 private hospitals”.
