Benenden Healthcare shortlisted for customer service award
11th May 2011
The not-for-profit, mutual, health & wellbeing organisation, Benenden Healthcare Society has been shortlisted in the Moneywise Customer Service Awards for 2011.
Benenden Healthcare, which is based in York and provides a range of services for a membership of around 930,000 across the UK, is shortlisted in the healthcare category alongside Bupa, Cigna, PruHealth, Simplyhealth and Standard Life.
More than 12,000 people voted for the awards which recognise the most trustworthy and reliable financial service companies in the UK. This number of respondents makes it the biggest survey of its kind in the UK.
Marc Bell, Marketing & Business Strategy Director at Benenden Healthcare, said ‘We’re absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this award. We’re especially proud of the fact that short-listing comes directly from the results of the Moneywise survey and not an entry submitted by us, which shows the trust that our customers have in our services.’
In 2010, 371,684 calls from Benenden Healthcare members were received at its Registered Office in York. Calls can cover a wide range of membership issues from change of details to requests for assistance. In total, the Society was able to offer services to 67,000 of its membership and 98% of members who used the Society’s services were satisfied.
The overall shortlists also revealed that customers are placing more trust in mutuals, co-operatives and other not-for-profit services providers.
Marc Bell said, ‘I was most interested to see the high number of mutuals and co-operatives shortlisted across all categories. This trend doesn’t come as a surprise as we identified this could be the future nearly two years ago. In September 2009, we revealed our research, The Feeling’s Mutual, which showed customers are moving away from ‘high street’ providers and placing more trust in mutuals, co-operatives and other not-for-profit services providers. This still appears to be relevant in light of the ongoing economic situation.’
The winners will be revealed on 24 June and Marc concluded, ‘I look forward to seeing mutuals and co-operatives receiving recognition from customers for the open and honest way that they approach service provision and their increasing relevance in today’s society.’
