12th June 2013
While the NHS 111 patient advice line faces a crisis, an alternative service run by the mutual healthcare provider benenden health is reporting an exceptional satisfaction rate by its users.
Benenden health provides 24/7 GP Advice to its membership of more than 900,000 and is currently achieving a 98 per cent satisfaction rating from its users.*
The benenden health phone-line is serviced by qualified, UK-based GPs and even accepts calls from around the world, giving medical advice to benenden health members who are abroad at the time.
Jean Scott, Member Services Director at benenden health, said: “The recent news around the 111 service has been of great concern and because we are an active supporter of the NHS, we hope that these problems can be solved soon, for the sake of patient confidence and health.
“Our own GP advice service is designed to ensure that our members have access to prompt and qualified GP advice – providing that extra level of reassurance and high quality customer service.”
The new NHS-run ‘111’ service has hit the headlines in recent weeks with reports of unanswered calls and bad advice potentially endangering those using the service.
