Southampton hospital added to Benenden Healthcares network of providers
6th March 2012
The leading UK health & wellbeing mutual, Benenden Healthcare Society, today announces the addition of the Nuffield Health Wessex hospital to its network of Regional Treatment Centres.
As one of Nuffield Health’s flagship hospitals, the Nuffield Health Wessex hospital is located off Junction 12 of the M3 between Southampton and Winchester.
This new Regional Treatment Centre (RTC) will service the postcodes BH, PO, SO and SP and will benefit up to 26,000 members living in these postcodes by reducing their travel time to their nearest RTC.
Hospital Director, Simon Shepherd, said: ‘The team at the Nuffield Health Wessex hospital are delighted to have been selected as a partner of Benenden Healthcare.
‘This opportunity comes at a very exciting time for the hospital. We are investing £9m in upgrading all our facilities, whilst Nuffield Health hospitals have recently become the first and only private provider to achieve NHSLA Level 3 accreditation.
‘Our two organisations are closely aligned in seeking to offer the highest possible standards of care and, as not-for- profit organisations, continue to reinvest in the future of Benenden Healthcare members.’
Jean Scott, Member Services Director at Benenden Healthcare, said: ‘We have an ongoing program of shortening members’ travel times by improving our Regional Treatment Centre network. Our Commissioning Team endeavours to seek partnerships with those private hospitals that demonstrate the highest standards in patient care – and Nuffield Health Wessex hospital more than met our requirements.
‘Our members in Southampton and surrounding areas can be sure of a warm welcome at the hospital.
‘As with all Society providers, we will continue to monitor demand, cost, quality of service and member feedback regarding the hospital, to ensure continued high standards.’
The hospital is currently undergoing a £9 million refurbishment which will see the addition of a fourth digital theatre. Features include 54 beds all with en-suite facilities and a fully equipped diagnostic centre including computerised tomography (CT), Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), X radiation and bone density (DXA) scanners.
The hospital takes children from the age of three.
[Note: Up to the 1st March, any members who have already been referred to Exeter or Winfield will continue their treatment pathway in the usual way]
