Benenden staff spread Christmas cheer at York Older persons home
8th December 2016
Volunteers from Benenden organised a Christmas party for residents of Willow House, near Walmgate, on 7th December.
Set up as part of a partnership between Benenden and York Cares, the party saw a team of 10 lifting residents’ spirits by singing carols, taking part in a festive quiz, and even had a visit from Santa - all washed down with a festive mince pie and a sherry.
Caroline Wilcock, Volunteering Projects Officer at York Cares said: “Benenden volunteers always have so much fun bringing Christmas cheer into the older people's homes in York - it really brightens the residents' day. The annual Christmas parties are a great opportunity for local businesses and their employees to give something back and share the festive spirit with the wider community.”
Nicola Taylor, Communications Co-Ordinator from Benenden said: “Taking part in the party has put a real smile on the faces of all of our volunteers, whilst also really putting us all in the festive mood. It’s been lovely to see how such a small amount of time from us can make such a big difference to these residents, and how a small act of kindness can go a long way.”
