Benenden support helps Art festival to take place
5th August 2016
A free festival bringing music, theatre and dance to over 5,000 people from all over Warwickshire will be taking place in Leamington Spa this weekend – with health and wellbeing provider Benenden coming on board as main sponsor.
The Art in the Park festival is back for a third year, offering local residents the opportunity to experience music from classical to jazz, theatre performances, and dance from capoeira to ballet. The event will be taking place this year on 6th and 7th August at Jephson Gardens from 10am – 6pm, with a headline performance of David Walliams’ “Ratburger” on the Saturday.
The festival aims to highlight the therapeutic qualities of art and music and give artists the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Carole Sleight, Art in the Park organiser said “We are really grateful to Benenden for offering their support, which has enabled us to continue to provide accessible and affordable arts events. Participation in activities such as creative and performing arts is not only great fun, but can also have a positive impact on physical and mental well-being, and encourage people to be socially active. We are looking forward to welcoming lots of local residents to what is sure to be a fun-filled day.”
Paul Keenan, Group Head of Communications at Benenden said “Benenden has a programme in place to support a range of local initiatives across the UK that make a real difference to the community. When we heard about this great community event we were delighted to get involved. It is an event which fits with Benenden’s values and demonstrates how arts and performance in the community can support social and mental wellbeing.”
With over 100 artists exhibiting, the event aims to provide a springboard for new artists to showcase their talents, and allow established local artists to sell their creations to members of the public. The event will include a range of pre-bookable workshops, including Furzie needle-felting and slab pottery throw-down, for members of the public to turn up and do on the day.
