26 June 2015
To mark its 10th anniversary Benenden’s Charitable Trust celebrated with a special gala dinner for Benenden members which has raised over £17,500 for the charity. Hosted by Scottish comedian Andy Cameron MBE, over 500 guests attended the event which took place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on 11th June 2015.
The evening’s programme saw a charity raffle, with a range of donated prizes from sponsors and a charity casino, raising over £4,600 through donations from guests. Further funds were also raised through sponsorship of the event, including organisations in a range of sectors including Space Creative, Medical Solutions, Spellman Walker, Communisis and MediaCom.
Benenden Charitable Trust, which exists to relieve hardship and distress caused by health-related adversity, has granted over £600,000 to individuals in severe need over the past 10 years. The money raised from the event will go towards helping individuals to pay for specialist equipment such as wheelchairs and stair-lifts, as well as life-changing surgery.
Thom Craigen, Charitable Trust Manager at Benenden said: “As it’s our ten year anniversary we wanted to do something really special to celebrate our achievements. A gala dinner seemed like a fantastic opportunity for us to raise the profile of the work that the Charitable Trust does whilst raising much-needed funds for our grant making activity.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of all our sponsors and the guests who attended on the evening and we’d like to thank everyone for their support. The amount raised will really help us to make a difference to so many people. Our next big fundraising event is the York 10K Run on August 2nd, where we will have 30 members of staff taking part to raise money for the Trust.”
