Benenden health staff volunteer at the RSCPA York Animal Home
30th April 2013
This week, a team of staff from York-based healthcare provider, benenden health, have been getting involved in the latest community project organised by York Cares by volunteering with animal charity RSPCA.
The team challenge will see volunteers from the organisation joining forces with other businesses from around York to help out with various tasks at the RSPCA Animal Home based in York - including gardening, painting and walking dogs.
This challenge is part of the launch of the team challenge season organised by York Cares and it falls within the national RSPCA week. The RSPCA York Animal Home, which will be benefitting from the volunteers efforts, has been looking after lost or stray animals on its current premises in York since 1981. In 2012, they rehomed over 700 dogs, cats and other small animals. As well as animal adoption, they also run a subsidised veterinary clinic, a shop, run numerous fundraising events throughout the year and are entirely self-funded.
Amy Goodman, Media Relations Executive said: ‘We had a great time getting involved in this community project which will help a really deserving local charity. It’s a hugely worthwhile experience to take part in these kind of activities and it’s been a great experience for all the staff who took part.
‘benenden health has been involved actively with York Cares for the past few years and we have taken part in a variety of team challenges and projects. Everyone who gets involved finds it immensely rewarding and we proactively encourage our staff to get out into the local community to be involved in these kinds of projects.’
