Benenden Healthcare staff bring festive cheer to Oakhaven
19 Dec 2012
Members of staff at Benenden Healthcare Society – the York-based mutual health and wellbeing organisation - have today visited Oakhaven care home in Acomb to bring residents some festive cheer ahead of Christmas.
This visit is the last in a series of Christmas parties at care homes across York organised by York Cares, which involve volunteers meeting residents, singing carols and sharing mince pies.
The volunteering project is part of a ‘Giving the Gift’ campaign which has seen staff at Benenden Healthcare donating items to the local Foodbank, toys and tinned food to the York Press ‘Toys and Tins Appeal’ and teddy bears to charities and schools across the UK.
Nicola Taylor, Communications Co-ordinator who went along said ‘it was lovely to meet the residents at Oakhaven and spend time talking with them and singing carols. This was a great project for our staff to get involved and we were all really pleased to go out into our local community and help bring some festive cheer to the residents.’
