Benenden staff volunteer to help clear up flooded park
20th May 2016
Staff from Benenden swapped their desks in favour of getting their hands dirty this week to help clean up a flooded park.
As part of their on-going work with York Cares the staff from Benenden helped to clean up Rowntree Park which was heavily affected in the floods at Christmas. As the weather has now begun to improve they were able to start the big ‘tidy-up’ project to restore this fantastic local park and wildlife area back to its former glory.
The team of volunteers donned their wellies and opened their bin bags for a morning of activity to repair the community area back to an accessible place to enjoy.
Nicola Taylor Communications Co-Ordinator at Benenden Healthcare said ‘This is a really great project for the team at Benenden to get involved with.
We all saw how bad the rain was at Christmas and how Rowntree Park was badly affected as a direct result of this. To be able to help with this project and give something back to the local community is part of what we do.’
