Lord Mayor of York visits Benenden Healthcare
11th December 2012
Yesterday, the Lord Mayor of York visited the Benenden Healthcare Society offices on Holgate Park Drive to thank the non-profit mutual organisation for their financial support of his recent Christmas Cheer receptions.
Coun. Keith Hyman - accompanied by the Sheriff of York, Coun. Paul Firth - took a tour of Benenden Healthcare’s offices and met with its Chief Executive, Ken Hesketh.
The Lord Mayor hosted four Christmas receptions in the Assembly Rooms for York’s elderly residents. To mark the 800th anniversary of York becoming a city, this year the Lord Mayor invited 800 of York’s elderly residents to attend these events.
Local businesses were invited to financially support the Christmas Cheer Fund and Benenden Healthcare leapt at the opportunity to assist in making these events happen and help spread the Christmas spirit amongst York’s elderly residents.
Ken Hesketh, Chief Executive said ‘We were really pleased to support the Lord Mayor’s Christmas receptions for the elderly in York, which we know were a huge success. We were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor to our offices yesterday so he can see the work we do here in York and how committed we are to making a real contribution in the local community.’
The Lord Mayor said, ‘Benenden Healthcare have been heavily involved in the community over the last year and their support for local people was vitally important. Without their generous donation, it would not have been possible to invite so many people to the receptions. It is really appreciated when companies are willing to share their success with others’
