York 10K training underway for Benenden 30-strong team!
20th May 2015
30 runners from York-based healthcare provider Benenden are getting set to take on the York 10K challenge on August 2nd. The running team, which includes the organisation’s Chief Executive, will be aiming to raise money for the Benenden Charitable Trust which celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year.
The team is made up of staff from across the business, with a range of running experience in the ranks – from beginners through to more seasoned runners. They’ll all be taking part in the race, which is part of the Jane Tomlinson Run For All series that starts and ends at the Knavesmire and makes its way through the city centre.
The team will be raising money for the Benenden Charitable Trust, which exists to relieve hardship and distress caused by health-related issues. In its first ten years, the charity has granted over £600,000 to individuals, helping to pay for specialist equipment such as wheelchairs and stair-lifts and life-changing surgery.
Thom Craigen, Charitable Trust Manager said: “It’s fantastic to have such a big team getting involved in the race. We are all training hard in preparation and looking forward to putting in our best efforts on the day itself. Many of us are relatively new to running so it will be a real personal challenge as well as a great way to help the charity.
“We are incredibly proud of the work that the Charitable Trust does to help those in need and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can for the cause to enable us to help even more people.”
