Future prospects for mutual societies being explored in new study by the European Commission

The European Commission has announced a consultation on the future prospects of mutual societies and how obstacles to widening their business can be removed. The consultation also looks at the need and possible advantages of a proposal for a regulation establishing a European Mutual Statute (EMS).
As a leading mutual healthcare provider and member of the Association Internationale de la Mutualité (AIM), benenden health welcomes this consultation having previously supported the introduction of an EMS.

The consultation by the European Commission will run from 11th March 2013 to 14th June 2013 and views are sought from all public administrations, citizens and organisations. Contributions are particularly sought from Governments (especially relevant Ministries and supervisory authorities), mutual organisations, legal professional associations and individuals who are members of mutuals.
