Service Developer

We have an excellent opportunity for a Developer to join Benenden’s Software Development team in York.

We are keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate excellent C# skills in conjunction with Oracle database integration. You will be putting these skills to use in restful web service design and development to integrate with a mix on in-house and third-party applications.

You will have experience of ASP.NET, ideally within the newer .NET Core SDK technology stack; though candidates with experience of legacy ASP.NET will be given the opportunity to cross train.

You will need to be familiar with database design within Oracle and be able to develop PL/SQL packages and have experience of developing and supporting large scale business applications, following industry best practice.

As a member of the Software Development Team, reporting to the Development Team Leader, you will be working along-side other developers and testers to form an Agile team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the delivery of web service business changes, including database design and data structure development as assigned to the individual.
  • Adhere to all internal design standards and development processes.
  • Assist in the development and adherence of key Benenden standards governing web service provision and database design to drive improvement across all internally developed solutions.
  • Ensure that emerging standards, novel technologies and techniques are fully exploited in improving Benenden Group performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Engage with all areas of the business providing advice on the best use of web technologies – driving awareness, securing senior buy-in and providing a clear technical steer across database and service-oriented projects.
  • Identify commonalties and opportunities for collaborative development and interoperability.

As a valued colleague we offer you a competitive salary, generous defined contribution pension plan, excellent annual leave entitlement, free onsite gym membership and the opportunity to work for an award winning organisation.
