Technical Engineer

We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Engineer to join our IT Team. This role will provide an effective technical service delivery on a day to day basis, develop and manage the technology in use to support all IT business systems and applications including communications, network and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Support, maintain and enhance existing technology including management of patch/security updates and identify areas and solutions for improvement, including the design, rollout and configuration of the Society’s Infrastructure.
  • Configure and install new server technology as required.
  • Proactive monitoring of the server hardware estate.
  • Support and maintain all communication systems such as email, telephony service and mobile email devices.
  • Manage and implement ‘best practise’ with regard to policies, processes and documentation of IT systems.
  • Technical Lead (or technical input as required) into departmental projects.
  • Evaluate, make recommendations on and approve technical architecture proposals presented by technology partners.
  • Provide effective interface between users and service providers to enable a speedy resolution to technical issues.

The successful candidate will hold a professional qualification and have demonstrable experience as a Technical Engineer on successfully delivering technical services within a fast-paced business environment.

We are interested to hear from candidates who have a proven track record in:

  • Managing and delivering technical services within an IT/IS and business environment.
  • Technical experience in core technologies (Windows 2008r2/12/16 server, VMware, Nimble Storage, 0365, Windows 2010 and Cisco Firewalls).
  • Managing backup and business continuity solutions.
  • Cloud Computing.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong customer focus.

At or around £28,000 per annum, pro rata

Hours of Work 

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8am-5:30pm on a rota basis
