Walk along York walls leads the way on mental health awareness

19th May 2018

Over 30 colleagues from our organisation (along with CEO, Bob Andrews) left their desks early to walk the two miles of historic bar walls that surround the city, and celebrate mental health awareness week.

Along with York Mind and other volunteers, ‘Team Benenden’ spent Friday afternoon discovering new sights and stretching their legs to help support better mental health locally.

Chief Executive, Bob Andrews, said:

“It was fantastic to see so many colleagues from Benenden Health come together and lead the way for such an important charity. I was proud to be part of it. This walk was a great opportunity for the team to improve their own health and wellbeing, and give back to a valuable cause. We enjoyed getting to know each other a little better, giving us time to talk away from our desk.”

Holly Bilton, Community Fundraiser at York Mind, said:

“We are so thrilled that Benenden Health colleagues came out on mass to join us on our walk around York, to raise awareness for Mental Health Awareness Week. Time spent outdoors gives us opportunities to see things in a new way, and helps us to open up and share more easily with those around us. Talking to others and feeling listened to is an important part of keeping our minds well, so we’re delighted that Benenden Health have embraced the event. ”

Everyone was welcome to join the walk for a voluntary donation of £5, which raised over £150. Having signed the Time to Change Pledge earlier this year, Benenden Health have committed to improve and raise awareness of mental health issues.
