Benenden Health urges Brits to act sooner on health concerns with new national campaign

Benenden Health has launched a new campaign, 'Your health is on the Line', designed to encourage people to stop putting off health concerns and seek support sooner, helping them take a more proactive approach to managing their health and wellbeing.

Your health on the line

The campaign is rooted in a growing recognition that busy lives often lead people to deprioritise their health. With September often viewed as a 'New Year, New Start' moment, Benenden Health is using the campaign to encourage people to stop ignoring symptoms and concerns and take positive action earlier.

Launching on 4th September, the campaign launch centres around a bright pink Benenden Health phone box installation in Manchester, designed to bring the organisation's commitment to improving access to healthcare support to life. Manchester was selected following research which revealed that 53% of residents say busy lifestyles prevent them from taking care of their health as well as they should, 43% above the UK average.

By launching in a city where time pressures are having a pronounced impact on health behaviours, Benenden Health aims to highlight the importance of accessible healthcare services and early intervention, particularly for people balancing work, family and other commitments.

The activation will be supported through social and digital content, including a partnership with LADbible Group to help extend the campaign's reach and engage audiences who may be less likely to prioritise their health. Social media creators from a wide range of backgrounds filmed themselves in the phonebox, sharing their health questions, helping to reinforce the campaign's message that people should feel empowered to seek support when health concerns arise.

The campaign addresses a challenge facing many people across the UK: finding the time, confidence and opportunity to seek professional healthcare advice before minor health concerns become more significant issues. The campaign also seeks to raise awareness of the importance of using trusted healthcare services and acting promptly when concerns first emerge.

Andy McClure, Chief Commercial Officer at Benenden Health, said: "One of the most significant barriers to better health outcomes is delay. Too many people dismiss symptoms, put off seeking advice, or struggle to find the time to access healthcare support while managing the demands of everyday life.

"At Benenden Health, we're passionate about helping people take action earlier. Through services such as our 24/7 GP Helpline and healthcare support options, we aim to give people greater confidence and easier access to professional guidance when they need it most.

"Our ‘Your health is on the Line' campaign is designed to start conversations about the importance of not ignoring health concerns and to raise awareness that affordable healthcare support is available. We wanted to use the storytelling capabilities of social media and content creators to encourage more people to prioritise their health and seek help sooner."

Dr Cheryl Lythgoe, Nurse Consultant at Benenden Health, adds: "Dr Google and AI can be useful for minor health information, but neither can replace a conversation with a qualified healthcare professional. As tempting as it is, a quick online search usually lacks context and leaves people feeling either more anxious or falsely reassured.”

"Through this campaign we’re aiming to show people there is an affordable, expert alternative to worrying or scrolling. Services like our 24/7 GP helpline can make a real difference, when you're juggling the responsibilities of everyday life on top of a new health concern."

As a healthcare provider, Benenden Health offers a range of services designed to support members in accessing healthcare when they need it, including a 24/7 GP Helpline, Mental Health Helpline and physiotherapy services.
