Benenden Hospital surgeon Eddie Chaloner records an album
19th April 2016
A chart-topping NHS choir which includes a consultant from Benenden Hospital has just finished recording an album with the Universal Music Group.
The album, ‘Something Inside so Strong’, is being released on 27 May, under the Decca Records label and follows hot on the heels of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir securing the UK’s Christmas number one spot with their single ‘A Bridge Over You’.
‘Something Inside So Strong’ is available now for pre-order from Amazon and other retailers.
Eddie Chaloner, who runs the varicose veins service at Benenden, has been part of the choir since the outset in 2012. He recently met Justin Bieber who congratulated the choir on beating him to number one.
The choir have been recording the album for the past two months. Mr Chaloner works for Benenden Hospital, for the NHS and also has a private practice in London and the South East.
He said: “The last few months have been a bit surreal - we certainly weren't expecting to be recording an album with the biggest music company in the world! Our producer, Jon Cohen has done a fantastic job in maintaining the authenticity of our sound - to get the chance to work with such top professionals has been a real privilege. We hope people feel our music celebrates everyone involved in healthcare in the UK.”
