Benenden health helps secure Olympic legacy for City of York Athletic Club

Benenden health will be supporting York’s Olympic legacy by coming on board as main sponsor for the City of York Athletic Club for 2013 - helping to secure the financial future of the Club.
Benenden health, a York-based organisation and one of the UK’s leading mutual healthcare providers, will be main sponsor of the club for 2013 – a partnership which will include the renaming of the Club’s flagship athletics competition to the benenden health Summer League and the introduction of new branded kit.
Paul Keenan, Head of Communications at benenden health said: ‘The strong community ethos of the club fits well with the mutual community values that are at the heart of benenden health and we are really proud to be able to become sponsor of the City of York Athletic Club.
‘We feel that this is the perfect opportunity to invest in the local Olympic legacy and help to promote the health and wellbeing aspects of athletics in the York community. The Club do amazing work out in the community and are actively working to make York become a regional centre of excellence for all athletes.

York City Athletics Club Chairman Neil Hunter said, ‘The Club currently offers 5 nights training each week and has over 600 active members of all ages and ability. This year we will move into fantastic new facilities at the York Sports Village as the community athletic club. This partnership with benenden health will enable us to improve accessibility to athletics in York and will support the Club in delivering excellent coaching and further enable participation whilst continuing our essential work in the community.
