Benenden Healthcare joins with City of York Council and The Press in awards to celebrate community pride
17th October 2012
For the third year running, York-based mutual health and wellbeing organisation Benenden Healthcare are main sponsors of the York Community Pride Awards 2012, an event which celebrates the strength of the local York community.
The event, which is run in partnership between The Press and City of York Council, celebrates the stars of the local community, commending special individuals and groups whose work marks them as champions of community spirit.
The awards ceremony takes place at York Racecourse on Thursday October 18th and winners will be announced in a diverse range of different categories, from ‘Public Sector Hero’ to ‘Parent of the Year’.
Lawrence Christensen, Head of Communications & Strategy said: ‘The power of the community is really important to us at Benenden Healthcare and these awards are all about celebrating the work of individuals committed to really making a difference in the local community. As a mutual, we are a community of members ourselves and that ethos is part of what makes it natural for us to actively support these awards.
‘This is our third year as overall sponsor of these awards and each year we have been hugely impressed by all the inspiring stories of the finalists. York has a huge amount of individuals and groups who are doing amazing things in the local community and these awards are all about celebrating these achievements which can often go under the radar.
‘We are really looking forward to tomorrow’s ceremony and wish all finalists the best of luck.’
