Celebration of York’s community champions in York Press Community Pride Awards

Winners were announced last night (17th Oct) at the York Press Community Pride Awards - with inspirational individuals and groups from across the city being commended for their community spirit.
For the fourth consecutive year, York-based healthcare provider benenden health were main sponsors of the event, which recognised the stars of the local York community. The awards, which are run in partnership between The Press and City of York Council were announced at a gala dinner at York Racecourse.
Paul Keenan, Head of Communications at benenden health said: “Every year we are even more impressed with the standard of the finalists and we saw some truly inspirational stories of people who are actively making a difference in the York community.
“A community ethos is at the heart of benenden health as a mutual and so we are proud to support this celebration of our local community heroes. All the finalists deserve recognition for their incredible achievements and their commitment to community spirit. Congratulations to all the finalists and the winners!”
Winners were chosen in 13 categories which celebrate the work of individuals, charities, community organisations and schools across York – including Parent of the Year, Public Sector Hero and Charity Fundraiser of the Year.
