VIP Panto Experience for Macmillan Cancer patients and their families
19th December 2016
People who have been supported by Macmillan in York enjoyed a day at the pantomime as part of our community relations initiative.
The 30 people attending were people who have been affected by cancer and their families, who enjoyed a pre-show meal and VIP experience meeting the cast, before settling back to watch Berwick Kaler in Cinderella at the York Theatre Royal.
Macmillan are Benenden’s national charity of the year 2016, and the pantomime event also marked the handing over of a cheque to the charity of £1,778.43 from staff fundraising.
Nicola Taylor, Communications Co-Ordinator at Benenden said: ”As main sponsors of the York Theatre Royal pantomime this year, we wanted to give something back to the community, and what better way than to give a Christmas boost to those who’ve been affected by cancer.
“We wanted to take their minds off everything they’ve been through with some light-hearted fun and put their worries behind them for an afternoon. We hope everyone had a wonderful time, oh yes we do!”
Clara White, Area Fundraising Manager from Macmillan said: “When Benenden offered us the tickets to the pantomime to give our patients a festive treat, we jumped at the chance to put a smile on their faces. We were inundated with requests for the tickets, it’s been so popular.
“It’s been amazing to work with Benenden again this year, and we’re so grateful to them for having us as their national charity of the year again, I’d like to thank them for their support.”
